The Background
11 month old Quinn had generally been a ‘good sleeper’ – the issue was getting him to sleep.
His parents would dread bedtime.
They tried everything they could think of…
- Rocking him to sleep (sometimes for over an hour!);
- Lying him down, he’d fall asleep then instantly wake up;
- Other times he would push mum and dad away but was upset, crying and wouldn’t settle.
It seemed that Quinn just didn’t know what he wanted.
This is when they got in touch with me to discuss sleep training.
The plan
After analysing Quinn’s routine, I provided mum and dad with a tailored plan for Quinn.
After only 3 days/nights on the correct routine, and using the controlled crying sleep training method, they started to see results!
The first couple of nights were tough however, after only 2 intervals (around 30 minutes) Quinn calmed down and went to sleep on his own.
On the 3rd night, following the normal bedtime routine, Quinn went to sleep on his own without a sound (and without a dummy!)
He now sleeps a solid 12 hours at night and wakes up rested.
Quinn is much happier in the mornings – he wakes up chatting to himself and just sits in his cot patiently until someone goes in.
I provided mum and dad with the information they needed to understand the reasons behind why Quinn was acting the way he was…and now they know how to handle it.
What mum said:
“Thanks to Seema, I have the confidence to put him to bed early if the lunch nap is a complete failure. I feel like I know my little boy better and the reasons behind his behaviour.
We cannot thank Seema enough, for her kindness and her patience. The service you receive is second to none! She never fails to make time for you and is always there at the end of the phone. Thank you once again Seema!!!”
