Navigating Business and Family During School Holidays

As a baby and toddler sleep consultant, therapist, and recently qualified human design reader, I’ve embarked on a journey that intertwines business, family, and personal growth. Today, I want to share my insights on navigating the ebbs and flows of running a business during school holidays, along with a sprinkle of human design wisdom.

Understanding Human Design:
Human design has become a fascinating aspect of my life and work. It’s a tool that delves into the depths of our personality traits and characteristics based on the precise moment of our birth. My exploration into human design has led me to integrate its principles into my work as a sleep consultant. Understanding my children’s human design charts has been eye-opening, especially in managing bedtime routines and reducing anxiety levels around sleep.

The Rollercoaster of School Holidays:
As a mother of three young children and a business owner for over six years, school holidays have always brought about a mix of excitement and anxiety. The anticipation builds as the holidays approach, but the stress levels also rise in anticipation of the chaos that often accompanies the break. However, I’ve come to recognise the importance of managing my energy levels and prioritising self-care to navigate these waves with grace.

Balancing Work and Family:
One of the key lessons I’ve learned is the importance of setting intentions and boundaries when it comes to balancing work and family time during school holidays. While I cherish the flexibility of owning my own business, I’ve realised the necessity of creating a clear separation between work hours and family time. By structuring my days and setting clear expectations, I’ve been able to find a sense of balance that allows me to thrive in both roles.

Embracing Flexibility and Self-Care:
Flexibility is essential when navigating the unpredictability of school holidays. While I used to meticulously plan every moment of our holiday schedule, I’ve learned to embrace spontaneity and go with the flow. By prioritising self-care and incorporating rest days into our schedule, I’ve been able to recharge and show up fully present for my family and clients.

Mapping Out a Plan:
Recently, I’ve taken a proactive approach to managing my energy levels and outlook on school holidays. By mapping out my business structure and setting clear boundaries around work hours and family time, I’ve gained a sense of control over the holiday season. Seeking support from friends, family, and fellow entrepreneurs has also been invaluable in navigating this journey.

Navigating school holidays as a business owner and parent is no easy feat, but it’s a journey filled with growth and discovery. By integrating principles of human design, setting intentions, embracing flexibility, and prioritising self-care, I’ve found a way to thrive during the holiday season. I hope my insights and experiences resonate with fellow entrepreneurs and parents who are navigating similar challenges. Remember, you are in control of how you structure your days and prioritise your well-being.

Thank you for joining me on this journey.
